      Description

      I am looking to change the mode of development of "uimaFIT" from SVN to git. More specifically, I am looking for a setup where a repository on GitHub can be used to push/pull changes and where the GitHub PR facilities can be used.

      I have been told that GitBox is the way to go and that I should open an issue here to trigger the conversion process.

      There is already a mirror of uimaFIT on GitHub:

      https://github.com/apache/uima-uimafit

      As far as I can tell, it already contains all the relevant code-base of the uimaFIT subproject.

      The following SVN locations can be marked as read-only as part of the migration to GitHub:

      * https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/uima/uimafit
      * https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/uima/uv3/uimafit-v3 (the code at this location has been svn-copied as "branches/3.0.x" under the svn location above and has already been synced to the Git mirror

      The migration has been discussed on the dev@uima.a.o list here: https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/96bf5b8e279d793b6cd82d3891a570750fc2ad9ccdc9780b86337974@%3Cdev.uima.apache.org%3E

      The feedback from the PMC was supportive of the move. The project is interested in gathering first-hand experience with the git setup using uimaFIT as a way of putting the foot into the water before (maybe) jumping in later.
