The mirroring has now been removed, and you should be all set!

OK, everything is working now on my end (and I see a green "Merge pull request" button within each pull request on GitHub now, great).

Please let us know when the incubator-netbeans repos are open for read-write access again.

I think I have done everything at http://gitbox.apache.org/setup.

What difference should I see, how should I be able to merge from GitHub?

And be advised, it may be a few hours before the mirroring has been disabled on GitHub (the 'mirrored from...' thing). Until then, please don't push to the repo, as GitHub will likely revert those commits

The repos are set up on gitbox now, https://gitbox.apache.org/repos/asf/
Please visit (and have the others do so too) http://gitbox.apache.org/setup/ to link your apache and github accounts.

You misunderstand. For us to switch to gitbox, we need to turn the ASF copy read-only while we move it to a new location and turn off a specific mirroring system on GitHub.
Once that has been done, you can commit to the repository from both gitbox and github, but we need to go read-only during the migration.

        Many thanks.

I must admit I had assumed we'd have both: the ability to check in to Apache NetBeans Git as we have been doing until now + also being able to do so via GitHub.

This not being the case, this means I think that we do need to discuss and possibly vote on this.

It sounds like via GitBox we will only have GitHub and nothing else, i.e., only a read-only Apache Git? Can we see a description and pros/cons somewhere?

Also, what does "take a while" mean -- i.e., if this would mean us having to wait several days before being able to do a merge again, once we move to GitBox, that would be a big disadvantage too, since we're working heavily on relicensing right now, with a view to a first release.

We're ready to do the move. please advise your project that the repository will go into read-only mode when you are ready. This could take a while, as we have to notify github and have them turn off mirroring.
