          Hi Olivier,

          hope you are doing fine.

          We are working on a project to migrate the vms to a new ubuntu platform.

          Does the project need the actual vm ?
          If yes, can you please let us know what requirements do you have / need in order for us to start migrating this VM to a new Ubuntu 16.04vm.

          If no, can we retire the vm?

          Please let us know.

          Thanks & Regards,
          -Freddy.

          Sent another follow up this morning to dev@ and private@. If there is no response, then I penciled in June 23rd for decom of archiva-vm.apache.org.

          June 23rd looks good to me.
          Will you clone the current VM to a new one? (maybe with more memory? :-) )

          Awesome , thanks [~olamy] for getting back to us. So first things first, I'm going to be putting most of the server config into puppet in order to automate any future migrations. As part of this I'll need the basic setup you'll need. Things like httpd, jdk, etc. Then we can setup the archiva software and move over any files needed from the old VM.

          we need:
          * jdk
          * httpd
          * mysql

          16Go would be nice and large disk (at least same as today)
          We update manually the Archiva instance. (we'd like to keep the same name: archiva-vm.apache.org for ssh access as we have rsync with Maven central)
          Thanks

          Ok, hardware specs *shouldn't* be a problem, I'll have to find out where I want to put this before give you 100% yes. How much of an issue is it to change the name with Maven? Being that we're going to keep both instances running concurrently (and Infra's general process) the new VM will be archive-vm2.apache.org.

          Current VM specs:
          1 cpu 1 core
          4GB RAM
          100GB HD
          Single NIC

          I'm also going to see if we can use one of our dedicated MySQL servers instead of using a local DB. Any concerns with that approach?

          So [~olamy] I got archiva-vm2.apache.org setup with a base install from Puppet.

          New specs:
          2 cpu
          8GB RAM
          150GB HD
          Public and private network

          Once the puppet run finishes, then I'll send you the creds for the mysql instance.

          We can also bump those specs later, but for now it's double the machine you had before.

          Is there anyone else that should be added to the sudoers group? Also, I copied the vhost config from archiva-vm.apache.org to the new box. We can always tweak it, but figured it was a good start.

          You can ssh directly too archiva-vm2.apache.org and then get root access via ortpasswd. I'm unsure what you're next steps for setting up Archiva on that vm as the only thing I've setup are the basics of the system, httpd, jdk, and a MySQL db on mysql3-us-west.a.o

          Also, the existing VM won't be decommissioned until we have this one stood up and working.
