Description
Both the data cache and the file handle cache need to handle different versions of a file (e.g. if a file is overwritten or appended). They use the modification time to make distinctions between different versions of the file. The modification times are going to come from the metadata.
We should have tests the integrate various metadata operations and configurations with the data cache to verify that the data cache continues to have the appropriate hit rate after unrelated metadata operations. This would help verify that modification times don't change unnecessarily.
