Description
Currently impalad needs external LLVM IR files to be compiled separately from the binary and distributed with the binary. This slows down builds, make it easy for the code to get out of sync in dev environments, and complicates distribution. Instead, we could simply link the IR data into the binary file, so impalad is more self-contained.
These IR files are also loaded from disk by codegen for each fragment. Linking the IR into the binary would avoid this step, saving some overhead.
Could also address IMPALA-799 (.bc file extension instead of .ll extension) at same time.
