Description

This is an extension of IMPALA-2719.

Besides setting variables through the command line, it would be nice to use the SET command to set them from within the shell and/or scripts.

This involves modifying the shell to handle options and variables separately.
Special care needs to be taken with "SET queries" (SET commands preceeded by a comment, which are treated as queries and sent directly to the frontend).
