This has been discovered in the process of testing 0.12:

Original issues we meant to be addressed by https://github.com/apache/hudi/pull/6114, but it ultimately led to "hbase-default.xml" (from "hbase-common") been bundled along w/ our "hbase-site.xml" purposed to override the {hbase.defaults.for.version.skip} configuration.
