Description

For HDFS-2291 (checkpointing in HA setup) we need to allow the StandbyNode to handle a failover while it may be in the middle of saving a checkpoint. This implies that checkpoints need to be abortable.

This JIRA is to implement this functionality. Even though this is only needed for HA, I think we should do the infrastructure in trunk to simplify future merges.
