      Description

Datanode should send the Block Reports and Block Received commands to both Active and Standby Namenodes. It substantially reduces the time for Standby to take over as Active and enhances the service availability.

Datanodes sending the information about new blocks to Standby Namenode at the earliest is a key factor in deciding the SLAs for service availability. When Standby Namenode is asked to switch to Active, if it lacks information on many blocks, it will remain in safemode until it receives them from Datanodes, may be through Block Reports.
