          1. make project name hadoop-common (in lower case), so that ivy-publish publishes the artifact in that case, to aid others to pick it up
          2. ivy-report to depend on ivy-resolve, so generating the reports for every configuration

Also, ivy/hadoop-core.pom should be moved/edited to become hadoop-common.pom; with appropriate changes in the build file

On a similar not Im working on ant-maven-task that would publish common, hdfs and mapreduce jars to the apache maven repo.
          https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-5107
I 've already published common snapshot jars to the apache repo using the ant maven task.

          1. move the hard coded version numbers for avro, jackson-mapper.asl and panamer into libraries.properties, add matching entries to the POM

gkesavan - I'm playing with this in my own branch, initially just use Ivy to glue together the outputs of the 3 projects into my own build, all via ivy. I can help with the POM files.

          I mean CHANGES.txt.
Also do we need it in 0.22?

I don't think it's worth messing with 0.22 branch. What I'm trying to do here is make it easier for one person on their computer to build all the main hadoop jars without versions from the snapshot repository creeping in instead; I may need to tweak the build and ivy files for this, as well as some of the subsidiary projects that refuse to play when I rename my version anything other than 0.23-SNAPSHOT.

OK, I'll try it as is, though probably name it something other than "newstyle", as two years from now when someone wants to add a third style, they will not be so impressed. It's like those Com Interfaces with ExEx at the end or Pont Neuf in Paris...

Now that maven has been adopted, this is moot
