[GROOVY-9917] Groovy / Java install issues

Description

Last year I had Groovy installed on my Windows 10 laptop.  I tried this morning to use Groovy (Groovysh or console) and receive the following error:

C:\Users\Jim>groovysh
Error occurred during initialization of VM
java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object

 

I have unistalled and reinstalled latest version of Java & JDK 

java version "1.8.0_281"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_281-b09)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.281-b09, mixed mode)

I have tried Groove version 3x and 2x and continue to receive the above error.

 

Any assistance would be appreciated.
