      Description

There have been many files in our CVSs that have non-UNIX end-of-line markers. Apache CVS stores all files in UNIX format. However, some CVS clients allow inconsistent line-endings to creep in. This propagates the problem to the distributions and thence to the users. In some circumstances such inconsistencies are known to cause runtime problems.

Here is some discussion about the issue:

We are gradually fixing it following the guidelines in:

This Jira task will help us to plan, fix, and monitor the problem.

Du'oh ... the centipede stuff was removed recently and i must have still an auto-generated directory.

That leaves only the ones in tools/ant/bin/ ... done now.

So now Forrest CVS is clean of dos2unix issues.

While doing this cleanup, we need to ensure no conflicts with peoples' working copies. This could happen with active areas of cvs and where people might have un-committed changes. Here are warnings about the areas that are going to be cleaned next:

        tools/ant/bin/ ... the *.bat files
tools/cents/centipede.cent/ ... many files (is this area still used?)

There is also something strange happening during the build. Some files, that are copied or generated to the build directory, have dos line-endings but their original source files were fine.
