Description
A PDF with lots of images may cause problems when it is split into many smaller PDFs. FOP puts all resources (ex. XObjects) in one Resources object that is reused for all pages. Many PDF splitters (ex. PDFTK and PDFBox) don't analyze the content streams and therefore just copy the Resources dictionary which causes all images to be replicated to all split PDFs. Essentially each split PDFs is then about the same size as the original.
