Description

Following the discussion on the ML, introduce dedicated branches for each version.

This also implies simplifications to the testing scripts (no longer have to differentiate between running one vs. all images), updating the README.md in the master branch to reflect the changes to the dev&release process, and removal of the generated Dockerfiles in the dev branches (unnecessary overhead, generate them in CI instead).
