Description
The SQL Standard allows views as the source data sets of MERGE statements. However, we disabled this feature because of namespace resolution problems (see DERBY-6652). Namespace resolution for the MERGE statement needs to be overhauled. Some of the issues are described on DERBY-3155. When the namespace problems are fixed comprehensively, we may be able to allow the use of synonyms and subqueries and perhaps, also, the use of correlation names for columns.
