Description

A comment for a release vote on the incubator list mentioned that the --binary flag should be used when generating checksums. On some systems, it is possible for different checksums to be generated for --text vs --binary. GNU systems don't have this issue, but --binary does have slightly different output by adding an asterisk to signify that binary mode should be used when validating.
