      Description

      Right now, the asynchronous ack mechanism (CHUKWA-369) assumes that agents will continue to use a collector until it crashes, and that those crashes will be detected. Both assumptions are surmountable, without major code changes.

        Passes unit tests for me. Most of the code has been tested at scale. Will do more tests before committing, but the code is reviewable now.
