    Description

on platform-windows the media plugin checks that the audio source is supported by looking for a supported file extension (eg .mp3). If it is not found then the media object create() fails.

When streaming media from a remote server the url will often not end with a file extension (for example playing a music stream from the subsonic music server).

Need to add prefix detection as well to enable the plugin to play from http, https and rtsp prefixed addresses.
