      Description

      from https://github.com/phonegap/weinre/issues/36

The version of Web Inspector we're pulling is pretty old, prolly time to update. Some thoughts:

      • should probably figure out which revisions of Web Inspector are being used for stable Chrome builds, and use those as potential pull targets
      • the sourcemap JavaScript debug stuff seems to be coming on line right now, might want to wait for it to be in a usable state before pulling, in case folks want to try to hack some JavaScript debug ala Aardwolf

        Sam,

Sorry to report that no, weinre is not being maintained well any more. I'm not able to provide much support any more, since weinre is no longer part of my job description. And only a few people have helped out with support issues over the years.

I suspect it may be easier to update to the latest dev tools at this point - back when I was still supporting weinre it was changing frequently, but I suspect the interface changes now are rather infrequent. Pretty sure I'd go with blink over webkit, given the choice.

Luckily, there's less and less need for weinre these days - I've put links in the docs to the latest great debuggers available for some of the popular mobile platforms - http://people.apache.org/~pmuellr/weinre/docs/latest/

Is Weinre still being maintained? This issue hasn't been looked at in years, and the dev tools are now very dated. If you do plan to update, will you use webkit or chromium dev tools? Is there any way you could make it easy for uses to download the latest dev-tools and update them themselves, the way ios-webkit-debug-proxy does?
