cql: Add support for arbitrary validators that extend AbstractType

      CLI allows the user to specify a validator that extends org.apache.Cassandra.db.marshal.AbstractType.

        I tried setting it to org.apache.Cassandra.db.marshal.AbstractType with single quotes and I didn't get a syntax error like I had without the quotes. There is no reason to think this doesn't work when a valid type is specified. I'll close the ticket.

        Are you sure this doesn't work? You'd have to use the fully qualified name and you'd have to use single-quote but it is supposed to work.

        It amounts to the same thing, in CQL3 syntax: you want to define a custom type for column values. All of these fit into that category. (http://www.datastax.com/dev/blog/schema-in-cassandra-1-1)

        This is extremely low priority for me, fwiw. I'm not aware of anyone actually using custom types.
