Description

Companion issue to https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PARQUET-1441, and https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-25588, since those issues in downstream projects don't seem to be getting any notice.

I've been able to create unit tests that reproduce the issue downstream in Spark and Parquet; I would appreciate any help reproducing the issue in the Avro codebase directly.
