The idea is to start blocking bugs which we feel like the Batik 1.8 release depends on.

This may be later reworked to target a specific 1.8 RC/beta series but, for now, the idea is to allow a better understanding of what remains to be done in order to create a new release: 1.7 was released over two years ago (!) so maybe it's time. :-)
