We are trying to get the PDF thru a servlet using xalan Transformation API.

While accessing this "Download" using IE on https, we are encountering the 
error." Internet Exploxer cannot download the "file" from "host" However this 
works fine with http protocol on IE and both http and https on Netscape.

I have seen something similar when IE downloads a PDF file over https and
either a 'Cache-Control: no-cache' or a 'Pragma: no-cache' header is sent by
the server. I guess it takes this combination as an instruction never to
write the file to disk for any reason, and so is unable to write it out for
Acrobat Reader.

This is a problem with IE and how the server handles the request. Please read 
the FAQ.
