I think the 404 page is rather unhelpful for beginners. We could improve it to make the default publication more easy to understand. eg looking at this page in the default publication http://lenya.owal.co.uk/default/authoring/links.html and I click on the "live" button I get this page http://lenya.owal.co.uk/default/live/links.html which is in fact the 404: Page not found error with the following text. The requested document '/links.html' with document-id '/links' does not exist. I'd like to add some more text - possibly making it more intelligent 1) Check the referer field. If it contains "authoring" then print out some helpful text like "The page you are looking for has not been published yet, you need to go through the "publish" workflow process before you can see this page on the live site. 2) Add in a tip to where you can edit this error message page. This is of course just for the default publication to aid in training new users.
Now one gets instead of an error 404: An error occured. Please contact your system administrator. Still room for improvement...
