    Description

I'm working on an application that must make use of Sqoop console logs to capture some metric. I'm parsing console output to extract some metric like rows fetched, time taken etc. I would also like to look for exceptions and check type and description of exception.

I observed that Sqoop outputs a merged stream of STDERR and STDOUT on STDERR. Is this by design ? Is their a command line switch to specify that I need separate STDOUT and ERR and not a merged one ?
