With 2.2.0 release and the new Wicket portlet conversion, we have lost the abilitiy to FilterByRole in the DevelopersBrowserPortlet, which is a derivative of the old User Browser
We will need to add this functionality backin. I am scheduling the with version 2.2.1, when we have a better way to do filtered, range-queries built into the Jetspeed API implementations
