Tough to say whether this is a bug or an enhancement request, perhaps it's really the latter, but why should using "m2compatible" imply that you wish to use any POMs in that repo. Jars are jars, and poms are metadata about them, and same as before, people may wish to get one from one place (in m2 format), and one from another.
