Description

Here are some improvements we could make to the build. Will list them as I think of them. Can do them individually as subtasks of this one.

When I undo the hbase-X.Y.Z-hadoop1-bin.tar.gz tarball and look at the doc, the version is hbase-X.Y.Z-hadoop1 in the javadoc. Should be just hbase-X.Y.Z. This is so in the xref src and in javadoc.
