From line 133, SearchRequestGrammar throws a DecoderException if it gets an empty base DN. Iirc an empty base DN is the RootDSE and it is used to query the schema, the supported controls, features, extensions of an LDAP server.

This exception is caught by the LdapProtocolHandler and no response is sent to the client, having the same side effect as the exception that used to be thrown by the ExtendedHandler and described by Stefan Zoerner a few days ago. Thus I set it as Blocker.

The bug has been fixed. Empty DN in SearchRequest are now handled correctly in Twix decoder.
