Description
It would be most excellent if the cassandra Debian package could get some of its configuration via debconf on install. For example, "Do you want to start a new Cassandra cluster or join an existing one", "Enter the address(es) of seed(s) in the cluster you want to join", "On which interface(s) should cassandra listen for Thrift (RPC) connections?", etc.
Power users would preseed the answers to these questions in debconf before install, so that installation could proceed without disturbance.
To implement, I imagine we'd ship a script to generate a cassandra.yaml from a template and the debconf answers.
This would remove the need for the CASSANDRA-2356 extra step in the setup process, and also make cassandra easier to administer and easier to try out.
