Surprisingly, many high end machines now days have a hard time keeping a consistent clock. The clocks may run fast and user tend to use a periodic cron job to sync the time on the local machine to the correct time. When this happens the time looks like it went backwards and this was delaying the sending of Mutlicast heartbeats.
